A Resona Health Origin Story
Everything that failed, she tried.
Jackie O. tried her way through the entire pharmacy aisle to get off one prescription. What finally worked was not something she took.
Jackie’s story, in her own words
Jackie O.
Jackie is not a person who reaches for a prescription first. She is the opposite of that person.
She reversed high cholesterol on a plant-based diet. She reads about natural supplements the way other people read the news. Her interest in holistic health is not a phase — it is how she approaches her own body, and she has the results to show for it.
Which is why the sleeping medication bothered her so much. And why, before it and alongside it, she worked through everything else first.
What she tried for sleep
- Melatonin Doubled up on it
- Valerian root Did not do it
- Magnesium Did not do it
- Other supplements A couple of other approaches besides
Every one of those is chemistry. Every one of them goes in through the mouth and works, or fails to work, on the body’s chemical machinery.
None of them got her off the prescription.
Why she wanted off it
Her insomnia was situational, and Jackie is clear about that. It belonged to a stressful stretch in her life, and the medication was the bridge that got her through the nights.
But she never wanted the bridge to be permanent. Jackie is not a person who reaches for a prescription and settles — she is the person who goes looking for the thing that makes the prescription unnecessary.
Time changed the circumstances. It did not, on its own, remove the prescription.
The thing that worked was not a chemical
It arrived from an unlikely direction. Jackie’s mother — not usually a person who is into anything holistic — came across a book on Amazon called Go Find Joy and sent it to her daughter.
Jackie read it. And the thing that made her willing to try was not a testimonial. It was a category argument: that this is the same kind of technology already accepted elsewhere in medicine.
“I saw how it uses the same technology as an MRI machine and a pacemaker — and that technology is sound — so I decided to go for it.”
Jackie O.
She later asked her own pediatrician about it. What came back was not an endorsement. It was a reframe — the same one, from the other direction:
“Hey, remember that our bodies run on electrical signals.”
As Jackie recalls her pediatrician’s reply
The pediatrician also made a point Jackie now repeats to other people: acupuncture was only demonstrated in studies relatively recently — not because it did nothing before, but because that kind of study is hard to set up.
And then the sentence that gets said, in some form, by almost everyone who ends up here:
“I mean, if it’s fake, I can return it.”
The first sign was not the one she was looking for
She was not testing it for sleep. She ran the vagus nerve protocol.
“I noticed that after ten minutes of using the vagus nerve setting that I was sleepy already. I thought, holy smokes, this is actually legit.”
Jackie O.
Then she tried it on her son, who has ADHD. He was already medicated that day — she says she probably did not need to put it on him at that point. Partway through, he looked up at her: “Mom, I’m getting really tired.”
Two people, one house, both noticing something neither was watching for.
Jackie says she saw improvement almost right away — inside the first week. So she ran the experiment she had wanted to run for a long time, and stopped taking the medication.
“I was able to just sleep through the night. So that was it.”
Jackie O.
A field where a pill used to be. That is the whole substitution, and it is the reason she now tells anybody who will listen.
The obvious protocol is not the one she uses
There is a protocol named Sleep. Jackie is direct about it:
“You know what’s weird, is I don’t feel like the sleep protocol works as well for me.”
Jackie O.
What she runs most nights before bed is brainwave alpha, and she picked it for a reason. She had read how the brain settles as you lie there winding down — alpha first, then theta, then delta. Alpha is the doorway. So alpha is the one she runs.
When something genuinely stressful has happened — one of those days that is still sitting on your chest twenty-four hours later — she runs PTSD instead. She had a hard family situation about a month before this interview, and she put the device on while she was still wound tight.
“I couldn’t believe it. By the end of the session, I felt relaxed and was actually laughing. I thought, oh my gosh, this is so powerful.”
Jackie O.
What Jackie cannot prove
She was asked whether she had wearable data — a watch, a tracker, anything with a before and an after.
“Shockingly, no. So I have no data except for knowing that I quit taking my sleeping medicine and was able to still sleep.”
Jackie O.
That is the entirety of her evidence, and she does not dress it up. One person, no charts, no baseline. A prescription she was taking, and then was not taking, and the nights held.
Not everyone in her life is convinced. Her husband thinks it is fake — she is still working on him, and got him to try it for the first time the day before this interview. Her aunts think it is woo woo, so she sends them PubMed articles, including a meta-analysis covering PEMF studies going back to the 1970s.
And when a bartender in Wisconsin mentioned he had insomnia, she told him to try it because it had worked for her, and that she had been desperate for anything that was not medication.
“You don’t have to twist my arm. Just tell me what it is and I’ll get it.”
A bartender, five minutes into the conversation
